a noise that sets with tonight's moon.

tonight: the moon

a sleep timer for brown noise that fades out on its own

Pick how long, tap once, put the phone down. A soft brown noise rises and holds for the first part of the time. Then it falls: quieter, more muffled, its breath slower, until it reaches silence on the minute you chose. There is no click at the end and nothing to switch off.

The noise is tuned by tonight's moon. Under a full moon it is lighter, with some pink in the brown and shallow swells; under a new moon it is a dark brown that swells deeper. The moon on the screen is tonight's, at its real phase, and it sets into the sea as the sound falls. When the moon is gone, so is the sound, and the screen is black.

Thirty, sixty or ninety minutes. The noise is made in your browser, not played from a file, and it keeps going with the screen locked.

It runs on the noise machine, where you can pick another noise or a pomodoro that breathes.
